Having completed his operational bombing missions,
and now employed as an instructor Cyril talked his way onto a
photo reconnaissance flight over Germany. This was totally
unauthorised and is not recorded in his flying log. At the end
of the war the treat of being shot down was not as high so it
was a calculated risk. The following photographs record the
damage inflicted on German cities after years of bombing. Cyril
wrote the name of the city on the back of each photograph
