 1790
The Moore story can be traced
as far back as 1790 during the Georgian period of history in the
reign of King George III. Only 14 years previously Britain had
lost their American colonies in the war of independence. The
Prime Minister was Pitt the younger. The French revolution had
only started the previous year. It was in this year that John
Moore was born in Wendover, Buckinghamshire in Southern England.
It is an
attractive village that nestles in a valley in the Chiltern
Chalk hills to the North West of London. This is the
family church where he was baptised and later married.
